Meet us
Houston Fiber Festival is a 501c3 organization led by a board of directors and supported by our wonderful founders, sponsors, and grant organizations. Our board is a mix of vendors, a guild president, a dyer, shop owners, and a merch-maker. It's a bunch of people who bring creativity and operational skills. If you would like to become involved in the planning of the festival, please reach out to our Executive Director.
We'd love to meet you!

Heather Robins. Board President. Howdy! I’m the dyer, maker, designer, artist and everything else behind Heathered Handmades. I'm also a dog mom to my fluffy mutt Bear, proud plant hoarder, and superhero enthusiast. Most importantly, I am passionate about doing what is right and what is good. Crafting has a long history of giving voice to marginalized groups and human rights issues when words weren't enough.

Katie Hoffman. Board Member. Owner of Scout & Skein, a local yarn shop in the Winter Street Studios, Katie builds communities centered on yarn, friendships, and creative opportunities through a series of in-person meetups and her shop. She has a strong dedication to sustainability and creativity.

Terri Schlather. Board Member. I’m Terri Schlather and I am a knitter who lives in Houston, Texas. I am mom to one adult, a HUGE Houston Astros fan, a lover of college gymnastics, and owner of a sweet little pup called Eliza. I learned to knit in 2019 from a good friend (Hi, Robyn!!!) with the patience of Job. It was a fortuitous time to learn to knit and before long I was prolific and obsessed!

Grace Talevera. Board Member. Grace Talavera has been crocheting since she was seven years old and knitting since she was fifteen. For her, fiber arts have always been more than a hobby — they're relaxing, therapeutic, and a way to express herself.

Sparrow Lena. Board Member. I need your bio, Sparrow!

Kelli Soika. Executive Director. With over fifteen years of experience with nonprofit and community administration, Kelli enjoys working with arts organizations to help them live out their creative dreams. She has lived in Austin and Boulder, Colorado, but has decided that Houston is home where she and her family have helped found the first cohousing community in all of Texas. In her free time, Kelli volunteers with Child Advocates, is a master naturalist, and enjoys spending time with her husband and three daughters.
Our story
A Homegrown Arts Festival

The Houston Fiber Fest is a beloved event in every fiber artist's calendar! Started as an offshoot of the Knit at Night Guild (KANG) in 2015, the festival quickly grew to an annual tradition in Houston. In 2026, the three wonderful "burning hearts" keeping the festival going decided to step down and offered the structure to a new group of leaders who were ready and eager to keep the festival alive!
A nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting fiber arts in the greater Houston area the festival offers local fiber enthusiasts an opportunity to celebrate the crafts they love — knitting, crochet, spinning, and weaving.
